My Stupid Christmas Meme

I’ve written a Christmas themed meme. Its short and kinda stupid. Basically, its all about the capitalist experience of Christmas and not at all about the religious or spiritual experience Christmas was meant to be.

  1. What do you really want for Christmas but you know nobody will get it for you?

    a toaster oven

  2. What do you not want for Christmas but you know that somebody will get it for you?

    chocolates

  3. When do you open your gifts (Christmas eve or Christmas morning)?

    Christmas eve

  4. Do you prefer gifts wrapped or in gift bags

    Wrapped

  5. Did you regift anything this year?

Not yet, just waiting for the unwanted chocolates

  6. What’s your favourite Christmas movie

    Bad Santa.

  7. What’s your favourite Christmas TV special

    Merry Christmas Mr. Bean

  8. Do you like egg nog?

Some years I do, some years I don’t. This year I’m going to avoid it.

  9. Real tree or fake tree, which do you prefer?

Fake tree, a lot less mess

  10. Would you actually use one of those fireplace DVDs if you don’t have a fireplace?

Never. I would never use one of those fireplace DVDs.

  11. Are you sick of Christmas music yet?

If I hear Santa Baby once more, I will probably rip off some of my own toes just to have something to plug my ears

  12. Are you getting up early to wait in line to do some Boxing Day shopping (Canada’s equivalent to Black Friday)

Nope. If I didn’t need it before Christmas, I don’t need it after Christmas just because its “on sale”.

  13. When was the last time you sat on Santa’s lap?

Long time ago, probably the late eighties

I’m going to tag all the usual bloggers: Bob (even though you hate these), Wiwille (I bet you don’t like these), JLee (you like these silly things, right?), Angel (you might not notice this), Big Ben (you probably won’t notice this), Juice (you definetely won’t notice this), Miss Ash (I can’t think of any snappy comment here), Woozie (too busy calling the mall Santa a honky to have the time to do a meme), BDS (probably have better things to do, bathing with a barbarous Swede perhaps) and Dan (if you can break away from beating up a bus-load of five year olds). Feel free to answer it if you’d like. If you don’t, I really don’t care. Anybody else who would like to answer it, go nuts.

Happy Christmas everyone!

  1. Merry Christmas to you too. I will take this tag, if you don’t mind.

  2. Ho, ho, ho. I hadn’t seen this one floating around Cyberspace. And you should demand somebody buy you a toaster oven. Be specific and unyielding and it will be yours.

But what the hell is a fireplace DVD? It sounds ridiculous.

  3. A toaster oven!?

No way, You’ll shoot your eye out.

  4. modobs – be my guest.

BDS – You haven’t seen it because I wrote it. A Fireplace DVD is a video of an active fireplace playing in a loop. My thinking is that people without fireplaces play these during Christmas eve dinners for that Christmassy feel.

  6. Dan – maybe with those American toaster ovens.

Miss Ash – that’s why I wrote the meme, I had nothing else to write about.

  8. I don’t know what a “meme” is but I would like to respond to this part:

“Nope. If I didn’t need it before Christmas, I don’t need it after Christmas just because its “on sale”. ”

But what if you did need it before Christmas but you knew it was going to be cheaper on boxing day? I want to buy a new laptop so that I can junk the paperweight that I have had for a few years now. Also I find it cheaper to buy books and DVDs after boxing day too. I need to buy these books but it doesn’t make fiscal sense to pay the price this week.

  9. wiwille – it is a rarity…

Bob – A meme is one of these lists of stupid questions. You’ve seen them before.

Claire – I need a second toaster oven. Can’t be bothered to get up off the couch to make some snacks. I want one by the couch dammit.
