My Holiday Season

January 2, 2008 · 8 Comments

My holidays are all pretty much the same every year. Here’s a rundown of what has gone on in the past couple of weeks.

Bob’s Annual Christmas Party Every year a group of friends get together at Bob’s place and we do a little Christmas themed get-together. Its a small do but a fun one. This year Chrissy and Janet took part in some of the food preparation. No ordering pizza this year. Janet even went so far so as to bake some chocolate cookies. But because I don’t eat chocolate, she made some peanut butter cookies too. Okay, I’m allergic to peanuts as well, but she didn’t know that. The effort is what matters. The night usually evolves into a rousing game of something. This time we played Balderdash, a particularly dirty game of Balderdash. Chrissy’s fiancee took it upon himself to draw a little sketch instead of writing down a definition. It was rather amazing. He drew a quite detailed picture of two men having anal sex on a tiny scrap of paper in a very limited amount of time. I just used the opportunity to make some complimentary remarks about Zooey Deschanel’s butt. Games sure can be fun when you really don’t care about who wins.

Christmas Eve My father cooks the shellfish and/or crustaceans. Joining my family was my aunt and two cousins. My brother’s fiancee also joined us. After dinner my father unwraps every gift, regardless of who its for. Because he likes to unwrap gifts, every year I wrap some random objects from around the house. This year’s weird wrapping: a 10 lb medicine ball.

Christmas Day/New Year’s Day Lunch at my Aunt’s house. Lots of food, a nice cup of coffee and my cousin’s two year old boy calling his uncle “Auntie Tony” and pointing out who has a penis and who doesn’t.

Boxing Day I got up at 3:30AM, but not to go shopping for the door-crasher sales on discontinued electronics. I’ve just got a sleep disorder. I did end up going to Pickering and getting lunch at Denny’s then into the Pickering mall and looking around. I found a board game I’d been looking for. What looked like a reprinting of Shogun turned out to be a re-invisioning of the game itself. I hate when board games change rules and shit like that. It’s not the same game, it shouldn’t have the same name and appearance. After all that lunch and shopping, I went out for dinner. Its the holidays, I’m not cooking dammit!

New Year’s Eve I don’t like New Year’s Eve. I don’t really get into the whole New Year’s Eve fesitivities. I spent the night at my brother’s place. I brought my Wii and we played some of the Wii Sports. I think I finally figured out that bowling game. I was getting killed in every game. I was couldn’t bowl a strike to save my life until I found my groove. In the last game, I bowled five strikes in a row and ran away with an easy victory.

Various other events Being the holiday season, many people from out of town came back to the GTA. I got to see some old friends like Columbia and Metro and bunch of other people I pretty much only see at Christmas. We hung out at Bob’s place and at the bar across the street. Photos were showed and memories were shared. Good times. I took Bob’s laptop and replaced his desktop wallpaper with a picture of a naked man from Miss Ash’s blog. Bob was not amused.

I was not amused. Boston’s girlfriend was, but I was not. Meanwhile, tell us honestly, what did the two-year old say when they pointed at you?

I like the laptop gag. I’m gonna pull it on my brother.

Haha admit it, Bob loved the photo :)

Sounds like a busy time, I have yet to try a Wii though I do have a friend with one. I should check it out though I hear i’ll be sore in the morning.

Bob - compared to Boston, that naked guy seems like another species.

JLee - one year, I wrapped up a log for my pa

Woozie - its most funny on people who aren’t quite sure how to change their desktop wallpaper.

Miss Ash - After the first week of playing my Wii, I had a very sore shoulder. Its like working out, if you don’t work out, the first week is always the worst.

Yeah i wouldn’t be amused either, but still not being the victim produced some good laughs.

The wrapping of random things is hilarious.

wiwille - its not like any of the good parts were showing. So its a buff guy in a Santa hat. What’s the problem with that?

    angel - it sure is.
