Friday better be real good, cuz Monday through Thursday is really sucking!
Another long weekend is approaching. This one can’t approach fast enough. This past week has sucked. Royally sucked. Even though today is only been today for seven hours or so. It already really sucks. I somehow ripped a huge hole in the leg of my pants as I put them on this morning. I just know that’s a sign of bad things abrewin’.
Friday will be like every Good Friday for me. My parents will be having people over for dinner. My Aunt, being an old school Catholic, doesn’t eat meat on Good Friday. My Father will be cooking shellfish like he does every Good Friday. I won’t eat that stuff. So that means I’ll be eating pasta or something else bland for dinner.
But at least on Friday, no work. Saturday if my boss asks me to work, I’m gonna tell him “No!” I don’t think I’ve ever needed a long weekend more than I do right now.
Sunday, I will be heading to my Aunt’s place for lunch like I do every Easter. Due to the fasting of meat on Good Friday, the Easter Sunday lunch is traditionally nothing but meat, meat and chicken soup. (She makes a really good chicken soup.)
Last weekend, I briefly went to Walmart. Don’t quite remember why. But I do remember seeing something that was both incredibly wrong yet somehow fitting.
At the front of the store is the seasonal candy section. The current season being Easter. The section was obviously well stocked with chocolate Easter bunnies and stuff like that. However, it’s not just bunnies anymore. There are all kinds of chocolate treats shaped like various cartoon characters and what not. What really struck me was the chocolate shaped like a monster truck. Nothing says Easter like a chocolate monster truck, right? Well, this one sorta did. The chocolate was modelled after not just any monster truck, but the monster truck named Gravedigger.
Think about that for a moment or two; Gravedigger, Easter chocolate; Easter chocolate, Gravedigger.
The over-commercialization of a religious holiday has almost come back around full circle.

I’m looking forward to 4 days off and some chocolate!! Where do you work that you have to work weekends?
March 20, 2008 at 9:23 am
Yea, where the hell do you work?
March 20, 2008 at 9:49 am
Pasta doesn’t have to be bland.
March 20, 2008 at 9:56 am
He is fussy, his pasta is bland.

I now have a burning desire to go out and buy a chocolate Gravedigger truck. That’s a must-have for any modern woman! I might even act on that desire, if there was any hope that the “chocolate” would taste good. More likely, I may as well go home and eat a brown crayon (after drawing a chocolate monster truck to put up on my fridge).

We don’t get Easter off. Sad. I think my boss needs to buy me that chocolate monster truck.

I ate the gravedigger chocolate last year. I’m going to eat the “back from the dead” Undertaker one this year.

Miss Ash & Rawbean - My place of business is in Vaughan, Ontario.
Jillian - But I like it bland.
Bob - just thinking about this, when was the last time you saw me eat pasta?
Spark - I don’t think anyone should eat chocolate that is sold in the seasonal candy section at Walmart.
Wiwille - you have to work Friday & Sunday. Dang, that is one evil corporation.
Big Ben - why don’t you eat some quality chocolate? (Not like I would know the difference) but I’ve heard that there are finer qualities of chocolate available today. They’re just not shaped like monster trucks or professional wrestlers.
March 20, 2008 at 12:42 pm
ugh, What do you do at your place of business?
March 20, 2008 at 12:50 pm
I went to Walmart the other day and skipped over the candy section since I’m dieting. Darnit, I could have seen the monster chocolate truck. I probably would have bought it to have and not to eat–just to show people.

mmm, cheap drug store chocolate!
March 20, 2008 at 12:57 pm
If you want a better weekend…do like Captain Jean Luc Picard always said and, “Make it so!”
My Mother-in-Law is coming to visit this weekend…she gives me a migraine with all her yammering….at least you don’t have THAT to look forward to!
I avoid Walmart if at all possible for the very reason you sited…

I like how he answered your question Ash. It was funny. Meanwhile, WIGSF, yes I rarely see you eating pasta but when I was originally typing that response I was going to tell the birthday story which is somewhat pasta related but I figured you didn’t want that story told so I decided to insult your tastebuds in a different way.
March 20, 2008 at 1:26 pm
Miss Ash - [insert vague response here]
Angel - Make sure not to store the chocolate someplace it could melt.
Sarebeth - I’ll take your word on that.
Random Chick - I only take advice from the original Star Trek crew. Sorry.
Bob - thanks dude.

But easter is when we celebrate chocolate rising from the dead isn’t it? Or monster trucks? I’ll look it up.
March 20, 2008 at 4:27 pm
That’s worse than what I saw at the bookstore. They had books on Jesus displayed with little chicks next to it. Doesn’t seem to go together…
March 20, 2008 at 10:05 pm
I agree…this week has blown major ass.
March 21, 2008 at 7:58 am
At least it’s a long weekend, eh? Still, you shouldn’t disciminate against shellfish as they can be pretty tasty and won’t have the Gravedigger riding you into the ground nearly as fast as a ton of chocolate. That being said, I’m getting some Cadbury Creme Eggs sometime, somewhere during the holiday.
March 21, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Mmmm…. I like the caramel Cadbury Creme eggs!
March 22, 2008 at 7:30 am
Oh man, Chocolate Gravedigger, Chocolate Undertaker, where will the blasphemy end?!?!
March 22, 2008 at 9:49 am
so how was your friday?
March 24, 2008 at 12:00 am
Hehe, somebody’s quite secretive about their job eh? Hmm.. that sends my mind wandering a little.
Hope you had a great Easter. I’m going to work tomorrow (or rather, today since it’s 1am), but I had Friday off, which was nice. I don’t ever complain about chocolate, no matter what shape it’s in. Any chocolate is good chocolate.
March 24, 2008 at 7:05 am
vinyl richie - I’m pretty sure Easter has something to do with Jesus. Lemme check my Bible first.
JLee - could have been worse, could have been Jesus next to some pigs or some other non-Kosher food.
Maxie - generally, I don’t like having my ass blown. It’s just not my cup of tea.
BDS - I don’t eat seafood. I can barely tolerate the odour.
Jillian - Never had ‘em. Never will.
Woozie - I’m still waiting for the chocolate Obamas to hit store shelves.
Bob - can’t you wait for the weekend recap dude. Sheesh.
Grace - you would too if you were employed as an adult video store manager
