Weekend Recap — Iron Man: Superhero or Laundromat Employee
Friday
Like my usual Fridays, I stayed in and relaxed knowing that I had to work the next day.
Saturday
After work, I went to pick up Bob and head to Scarberia. I rang the buzzer for his condo twice and got no answer. I went back to my car, called his cellphone and got no answer there. So I turned the car on and made my preparations to leave. He knew I was coming. If he doesn’t want to come with me, well, he should have had the decency to at least tell me.
Right before I put the car into reverse, I heard this thumping on the window. Oh my God! I’m being carjacked by a manatee… or wait, that’s just Bob.
The two of us headed out to Scarberia. There, we picked up the Wonder Twins and another person and drove out to Pickering. We were going to Dennys!
It wasn’t until we were sitting down, perusing the menu before I spoke up. “Hey, this menu says ‘The Pickering Grill.’ It’s not Dennys anymore.”
The food was fine but the waitress seemed a bit disturbed by my willingness to wear a wedding dress.
After dinner, which consisted solely of breakfast foods, we went back to Scarberia and the Wonder Twins place. There a sixth person joined us and we played some Canadian board game called Cranium. The game resulted in Bob, intentionally, punching himself in the nards, me humming Cum On Feel the Noize and generic brand play-doh substitute sculpting of breasts and other erogenous zones.
Sunday
Laundry day. I have lots of dirty clothes. You know the single guy lifestyle. Don’t do laundry until there is one pair of clean socks and one clean underwear left in the dresser. But at that point, get as many washing machines going simultaneously as possible. Laundry, the man’s way.
Later, me and Juice ventured out into the real world. One of my friend’s birthday has just passed and I’ve got to get her a gift or something. I went to the mall for inspiration only to find out the mall was closing in ten minutes. Women like gift cards, right?

Women love gift cards. But I love Cranium even more!

I just want to point out, I wouldn’t say you “picked up” the others in Scaberia, they wanted to drive but you told them that you didn’t trust them to get us there. I think at some point you need to let the Wonder Twins drive you somewhere.
I was also disturbed by your wedding dress comment.

The only Denny’s that I knew of in Ottawa closed down too. I never ate there though because I knew a girl who waitressed there and she told me a few too many horrible stories about what the cooks did in the kitchen.
The gift card issue depends on the situation. If it’s coming from somebody I’m not very close to, then I consider it to be a great gift. But if it’s from somebody I know extremely well, it usually just insults me… you couldn’t put a little more time and effort into getting me something you knew I’d like? In that case, it just seems like the easy way out.

Deprived of the Dellidinger. That’s a shame.
May 5, 2008 at 10:52 am
I agree Grace. I am slightly insulted when a close friend gives me a gift card. It feels like the person didn’t even try.
Meanwhile, I have a Music Guessing Game question:
When we are looking at a song like “Under Pressure” from the last round. Did people lose points if they didn’t mention BOTH Queen AND David Bowie?
May 5, 2008 at 11:08 am
JLee - But do women like gift cards from places that sell things women don’t like? For example: would a woman like a gift card from a sports memorabilia store?
Bob - They could have drove themselves. All I said was “I’m driving.”
Grace - Those stories are always embelished.
wiwille - huh???
Bob again - I don’t like the wording of that question. It confused me.
May 5, 2008 at 11:46 am
Well going in two cars would have been a waste. Going back to my question… I will try to re-word it:
If I had answered with this: Queen - Under Pressure
Would I have gotten the full marks?

No
May 5, 2008 at 1:08 pm
The Dellidinger. It’s a sandwich at Denny’s….forget it.
May 5, 2008 at 1:49 pm
wiwille, we go there for the all-day breakfast.
May 5, 2008 at 2:09 pm
Cranium is awesome. Although the questions that ask you to spell a long word backwards really screw up my brain.
Does Bob really look like a manatee?
May 5, 2008 at 3:03 pm
I didn’t see any mention of Iron Man. How misleading.
Also, TABOO is a fun game. A good time is generally had by all.

Wiwille - Only once in my life have I been to a restaurant with an all day breakfast and not ordered from the breakfast menu. Frankly, I’ve got no idea what sorts of food Denny’s offers other than their breakfast items.
Spark - not so much since he got his teeth fixed. But in the right light combined with his thwapping on the car window and his panting from having run more than 7 1/2 feet; it was an honest mistake. Besides, I like to make fun.
Jillian - over dinner, we discussed: what Iron Man’s suit was made of; why Iron Man is more intimidating than Plastic Man; and whether or not Iron Man is a crimefighting superhero, or just a guy who likes to press his clothes, or both.
May 5, 2008 at 5:01 pm
Yeah I always get breakfast food there too, but one night I sat in an inebriated state I saw it on the menu and thought it was funny. Someone ordered it for me and I was quite rightly teased for eating such a foul named sandwich. It became a long standing joke. You had to have been there.
Actually the last time I went to Denny’s I was in Canada and their eggs benedict was really tasty.

OMG! I love Cranium! It’s fun to play when you’re drunk. I win more when I’m drunk…why is that??
May 5, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Denny’s down my way is rather pricey.
Yay for Cranium, it’s such a fun game I love it!!
May 5, 2008 at 7:11 pm
wiwille - all this talk of Dennys is making me hungry. Bob, you reading this, let’s go to Brampton!
Random Chick - Best drunk game is the Mad Magazine board game. Never tried it drunk, but it just feels like a good drunk game.
Miss Ash - define pricey.

Oooo. Why wasn’t that tidbit included in the post? I would have liked to have read it there. Hmm… using comments as supplements to the post?
You might be on to something.
May 6, 2008 at 12:35 am
I forget but it’s out of control…only because of the area it’s in. Everything down there is jacked up.
May 6, 2008 at 2:26 am
Hmmm…..the last time I was at Denny’s was the same time Wiwille was at Denny’s.
May 6, 2008 at 8:02 am
Jillian - I didn’t have my maux juste.
Miss Ash - Really? Whatever.
Rawbean - Oooh, getting sloshed with the Wiwille. Details…
May 6, 2008 at 8:41 am
Miss Ash, the server at this place on the weekend claimed the prices were cheaper than Dennys but I didn’t believe her.
Jillian - I blogged about Iron Man yesterday.
