Insomnia Blogging: I Can’t Fight This Feeling Anymore

So, Bravo plays Law & Order at 5:00AM in the morning on weekdays. Sweet. This morning it was the one where some old Italian guy is shot and stabbed because he had proof an insurance company sold policies to victims in the holocaust. Good episode.

All the other reruns in the early morning were Thanksgiving themed episodes. Usually, I dislike holiday themed episodes. Too much lovey-dubey crap with the family. I want more turkeys being thrown from a flying helicopter dammit!

I spent some time this morning looking out the window as the snow fell. Everyday this week I have had to clear the snow from my car in the morning only to find once I reach work, no snow. I don’t live that far from work, but the drive is straight south each morning. Every couple of miles or so, I see a difference in the precipitation. At home, it’s snow. Two stoplights south, wet snow, two more stoplights south, rain. It’s amazing how that little bit of elevation and a being a few miles further from the equator turns rain into snow.

I didn’t bother to shovel the driveway this morning. It’s not like there was a lot of snow, but you know what’s going to happen. Some parts of the driveway will melt while others will turn to ice. So when the big snow starts to fall, shoveling the driveway will become a horrifying ordeal. Much like last year when I was so lazy I just drove my car up and down the driveway, packing all the snow down. And from what I hear on the news, this year’s winter is going to be warm like last year’s, so… More snow! Lots more snow!

Like the last time I was unable to sleep, I caught some more of that Time Life collection Rock Ballads. Not only is it hosted by the guy from REO Speedwagon, but at one point, he takes out his acoustic guitar and starts playing “Keep on Loving You.”

Pretty soon, Time Life will have run out of collections to make and will be forced to create a Time Life presents the Best of Time Life Presents. It will be one disc from each collection. One disc soul, one country, one instrumental love song, one rock ballad and one ’80s hit. And they might as well get some aging douchebag to host it. How about Dennis DeYoung? That’s right, I’m calling Dennis DeYoung a douchebag. Anybody gonna stop me? Didn’t think so.

  1. Thanksgiving re-runs? Boring. Morning TV? Boring!

I think you’re onto something with the Best of Time/Life Presents series, though. A mega-disk collection of all their greatest collections.

And if you want an aging douche-bag, why not Steven Tyler instead of Dennis DeYoung? He’s much more douche-y.

    Wait a minute… Isn’t Steven Tyler favoured by a certain you-know-who?

  2. Apparently there was a blizzard where I live however I was staying about 45 mins away which was fabulous. No snow at all :)

Good choice to stay away for the night.

  3. Have you tried watching golf? I don’t know many people that can stay awake through that shit…

I don’t think I get the Golf Channel.

  4. That was a great WKRP in Cincinnati episode.

I heard somewhere that was based on a real incident.

  5. Damn, tou beat me to it. The WKRP turkey episode is indeed based in reality. Back when I was working in radio my general manager would talk about it every holiday season.

It’s hard to even imagine what that must have been like.

btw — speaking of unbelievable Thanksgiving moments, did you have a chance to catch this?

  6. Wait…I cna see it now…

Time/Life presents…”Law and Order Sayings by Jerry Orbach.”

I always liked the old DA’s lines better. I don’t remember the actors name. He played Adam Schiff.

  7. Oh my gosh, I am going to have to smack my husband!

You know, I’ve never been a big fan of Law & Order. I’ve seen it a few times, but not enough to know who was in it.

I like that idea for Time Life! That’s funny! How much do you think they’d charge for something like that? LOL

You two crack me up sometimes.

  9. Not only is it hosted by the guy from REO Speedwagon, but at one point, he takes out his acoustic guitar and starts playing “Keep on Loving You.”……I don’t think my TV could make it without me killing it.

I know. If only I could forget.
